Milo Yiannopoulos: ‘Nothing but contempt and horror’ for Murray allegations

Conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos fell from grace after he seemed to endorse sexual relationships between gay men below the age of consent and their older counterparts. So, what does he think about the allegations against Seattle Mayor Ed Murray?

“I was speaking about consensual relationships with mid-teens,” Yiannopoulos told AM 770 KTTH’s Jason Rantz, “and it seems to be, in that case, non-consensual relationships with people who are younger, for which I have nothing but contempt and horror.”

The Conservative Political Action Conference rescinded their invitation to Yiannopoulos last year after The Reagan Battalion released a segment of a live-streamed video where Yiannopoulos talked about the perceived prevalence of sexual relationships between teenage boys and men in their 20s. Here’s exactly what he said.

“In the gay world, some of the most important enriching, and incredibly life-affirming, important, shaping relationships are between younger boys and older men. They can be hugely positive experiences very often for those young boys.”

Yiannopoulos later apologized for the comments and acknowledged he, himself, was the victim of sexual abuse in his teens. He also tried to clarify the sentiment during his interview with Rantz.

“I certainly do not defend anything remotely approaching pedophilia, I think it’s disgusting and I’m a victim of it myself,” Yiannopoulos said, “but there are aspects of gay life that people don’t like to talk about in public, and that’s one of them.”

Rumors of sexual misconduct plagued Murray years before any lawsuits were filed, Yiannopoulos doesn’t believe Murray would’ve been able to rise to power if he were a Republican.

“Liberals tend to protect their own,” he said, “they tend to cluster and band together when they’re under attack. Conservatives tend to throw each other under the bus. It’s a characteristic of the right and the left that I’ve seen in Europe and in America.”

The comments on young gay relationships were certainly not the first time Yiannopoulos made national headlines.

Yiannopoulos temporarily stopped one of his events at the University of Washington back in January when a man was shot in the abdomen at a protest outside the lecture hall. At UC Berkeley, protesters of his speech caused $10,000 worth of damage.

He said he has no qualms with returning to Seattle, though.

“It’s really important when these things happen that you don’t allow it to scare you off,” Yiannopoulos said. “You return year after year after year because what it does is it passes through the minds of the administration, they’ve just got to get used to hearing opinions they don’t like.”

Yiannopoulos is also planning to return to UC Berkeley later this month as part of ‘Free Speech Week’, but that’s only if they can work out a deal with the university administration.

“UC Berkeley is trying to do everything it can to try to stop this event from happening,” he said. “They particularly don’t want what’s going to happen inevitably, which is anti-fa coming out to protest us. This is the environment that UC Berkeley has created.”
