No, Trump didn’t mock Paralympic athletes

The internet is abuzz with claims President Donald Trump mocked Paralympians at an event meant to honor them by claiming it was “tough to watch.” Only, the criticism is unjust and the president literally mean it’s difficult to find time to watch the games.
The coverage of the quote-out-of-context has been disturbing. It shows you how so-called “fake news” easily spreads.
Gus Kenworthy, an Olympian and liberal activist, tweeted: “I miss the days when the Team USA White House visit didn’t include a part where the president made fun of our Paralympic team.”
I personally miss the days when every athlete took on some phony social justice cause to mask their ideological bigotry.
Sebastian Murdock, in a shocking display of dishonesty, claimed in The Huffington Post that Trump directed the insult to the Olympians, telling them they were personally “tough to watch” — the implication being that, because they’re disabled, they were difficult to see compete. That’s not what Trump said.

“And what happened with the Paralympics was so incredible and so inspiring to me,” Trump said. “And I watched — it’s a little tough to watch too much, but I watched as much as I could. It was really fantastic, and I want to thank you.”
Claiming he dissed the athletes makes no sense in the context presented. You have to willfully ignore the fact that his “tough to watch” statement came with praise for the “incredible” and “inspiring” events. Oh, and that the two words immediately after “tough to watch” were “too much.”
Why is it “tough to watch too much”?
Per The Washington Post: “According to NBC Sports, there was 94 hours of Paralympic TV coverage across NBC’s networks (with most of it being on cable) and 250 hours across all platforms, including the NBC Sports app. That was double what it was four years ago…”
I know we’re not all as busy as any sitting president can be, but anyone with a job or family would find it “a little tough to watch too much” when you have 94 hours of coverage across multiple platforms. Even MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes agrees.
Now, of course, the context of this willful ignorance from angry Progressive activist comes from when Trump undoubtedly did mock a reporter with a disability. But because Trump simply uttered a past egregious insult, doesn’t give the media or activists the right to purposefully lie about a simple quote at an event we should be celebrating.
