Rantz: Ghoulish vaccine zealots gloat after unvaccinated trooper dies of COVID

LaMay, state trooper...

A former Washington State Trooper who was terminated for not complying with the vaccine mandate has died of COVID. The progressive, vaccine zealots are actually gloating. These people thrive on schadenfreude.

Robert LaMay famously told Governor Jay Inslee to “kiss my —” in his sign-off video. He served the state as a trooper for 22 years. LaMay said he did not take any vaccines due to his religious beliefs. He was also a firm believer that the government should not compel medical treatment on anyone.

After a battle with COVID, LaMay passed away. And the very people who claim to fervently push vaccinations so that they can help preserve life, revealed they’re nothing more than sanctimonious imposters.

Vaccine zealots reveal they’re monsters

We’ve all seen the vaccine zealots on social media or in real life: the folks who include #ProudlyVaxxed in their Twitter bios or upload 14 selfies as they got both Pfizer shots and a booster.

These people scour the internet for stories of “rubes” who won’t get vaccinated, and they will insult them incessantly. It doesn’t matter if there are medical, philosophical, or religious reasons behind the refusal to be vaccinated. That they won’t make the same decision as the zealot is enough to insult and bully.

The zealots claim they’re doing it to protect life. If they care so much about life, why do they mock people who die?

The reaction by some to the death of LaMay is beyond abhorrent. One soulless ghoul after another took to Twitter to mock his death, some even dancing on his grave while implying they only had the best of intentions.

It got as bad as you can imagine

There were others who didn’t even attempt to find anything out about LaMay. They falsely labeled him an anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist. But as he made clear over and over again, he had a religious objection to all vaccines — including for the flu.

And anyone who told his story — be it me or FOX News anchors — were labeled a murderer or excoriated for pushing disinformation. They don’t actually cite the disinformation, of course. It’s a catch-all phrase that stupid people say when they mean they don’t like people’s stories being told. Some of them couldn’t be bothered to screenshot the right person, so quick to try to declare another win for their side.

The hatred on display got so bad that I did something I’ve never done before: I changed the settings so people couldn’t respond to my tweet.

LaMay’s family didn’t need to see those messages.

But the tweets revealed their true nature. They don’t actually care about life; they care about the perception of caring about life. They’re purely in it for the social currency they get from the other like-minded zealots. These are lonely people who feel important when they bring others down.

LaMay’s fight was about rights

LaMay made a different decision than many others have made. That was his right.

He did not want to violate his personal religious and philosophical beliefs. He did not want to be forced into a vaccine by the government. I don’t either.

But progressive activists who want to control your every decision and thought can’t possibly understand this. You either make the decision they want you to make, or you face their scorn.

I haven’t changed my position: I still think getting vaccinated is the smart move for almost everyone. I still think people should get vaccinated in consultation with their doctor. It’s what I did. That the vaccine doesn’t stop the spread of omicron hasn’t changed my position. The data strongly suggests it does lessen the effects of COVID.

Personal responsibility

LaMay’s decision may have cost him his life. But he knew the risks.

A general position for conservatives is that we’re willing to take personal responsibility for our decisions, even if they turn out to be wrong. Leftists can’t understand that because they pretend to never be wrong.

Progressives defunded the police and we saw a surge in crime. They effectively legalized drugs and we saw a surge in overdose deaths. They passed policies increasing taxes on businesses and developers and we saw a surge in the cost of living.

Do they take responsibility? Of course not.
