John Curley explains why he is jumping on the Hillary Clinton bandwagon

For the good of the Republican Party, John Curley knows who he must vote for in November.

“I will be voting for Hillary Rodham Clinton,” he said.

Curley is following the lead of respected conservative columnist Bret Stephens, who wrote in the Wall Street Journal Monday that the “best hope for what’s left of a serious conservative movement in America is the election in November of a Democratic president, held in check by a Republican Congress.” Stephens’ argument is that the way to save conservatism is to scuttle the Republican Party by electing Clinton and surviving her administration for four years.

“Just like (Jimmy) Carter we can get Hillary in for one term and we’ll just shut her down,” Curley said. “Let us keep the House and the Senate. So vote. If you’re conservative, you’re a Republican, put Hillary Clinton in the White house. Putting Donald Trump in the White House could be the worst thing that happened to the party and could hurt us for years and years and years. We’ll never recover from that.”

Curley expects Clinton will fall apart on her own because she “has a problem with telling the truth.”

“Her administration will sort of be shackled by her insincerity,” he said. “Let her have four years, so everybody stick her in there. We’d rather have her than Donald Trump.”

Co-host Tom Tangney doesn’t expect Stephens’ or Curley’s arguments to be persuasive for many, and that if the race gets close, opinions might change.

“My guess is that since, like Donald Trump, John, you too like to be flexible, you will rescind your Hillary Clinton vote before election day and end up voting for the Don,” Tangney said.

To that, Curley acknowledged that he could “evolve” in his stance, much like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have evolved in their support of gay marriage.
