What was the biggest bombshell to come from Comey testimony?

Jun 8, 2017, 10:32 AM

Of everything that came out of the testimony from fired FBI Director James Comey on Thursday, KIRO Radio’s Dave Ross says one of the biggest bombshells is that Comey would essentially call President Trump a liar under oath.

“James Comey, the fired FBI Director just after being sworn in says that what he was told in private about his competence as FBI director and then the public statement the president put out afterward indicated that the president was a liar,” Dave summarized.

This is what Comey said:

“The administration then chose to defame me and more importantly the FBI by saying that the organization was in disarray. That it was poorly led. That the workforce had lost confidence in its leader. Those were lies, plain and simple. And I’m so sorry the FBI workforce had to hear them and I’m so sorry the American people were told them.”

Is it news that the president has a tendency not to tell the truth?

“No, but what’s news is that the former FBI director would say it under oath and it’s so blatant and he can’t deny it anymore,” Dave said.

Comey also said that news reports, including some from the New York Times, were inaccurate.

“The challenge — and I’m not picking on reporters — about writing stories about classified information is that the people talking about it often don’t really know what’s going on and those of us who know what’s going on are not talking about it. And we don’t call the press to say hey you got that thing wrong about this sensitive topic … We just have to leave it there. I mentioned to the chairman the nonsense around what influenced me to make the July 5 statement. Nonsense, but I can’t explain how it’s nonsense.”
