As If Theatre Company is returning to the Kenmore Community Club with its sixth annual short play festival on Aug. 7-9. This year’s theme is “The Eight Deadly Sins.”

In preparation for the festival, eight local playwrights were challenged to create original short plays inspired by the traditional seven deadly sins, with an eighth sin, ignorance, added into the mix. Each writer was paired with a director and cast through games of chance at a “Quick-Off” event in June, then given just four weeks to complete their scripts before rehearsals begin.

Each show will include all eight plays, and audience members can vote for their favorite performance at the end. A panel of judges will select the winner of the Critics’ Choice Award, which will be presented with the Audience Favorite Award after the final performance.
