Seattle-Tacoma International Airport announced last week that Delta Air Lines plans to offer new nonstop flights in March between Tokyo-Narita and SEA.

The daily service will add to Delta’s current service to Tokyo-Haneda, providing another option for business and leisure travelers, according to a news release from the Port of Seattle, which operates SEA.

“Japan is one of the Pacific Northwest’s closest partners,” Port of Seattle Commissioner Toshiko Hasegawa said in the release. “For generations, our region has been connected through trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and the enduring friendships between our people. We’re proud to see Delta continue investing in trans-Pacific service at SEA. Expanding service to both Narita and Haneda gives travelers more choice while strengthening the economic and cultural ties that have long connected Japan and the Pacific Northwest.”

Delta will fly to Tokyo-Narita daily using A330-900 aircraft. This adds to Delta’s long-haul international service at SEA, including nonstops to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei, and Tokyo-Haneda.

Delta operates more than 160 peak-day departures to more than 62 destinations from Seattle, including new nonstop service to Barcelona and Rome, according to a separate release from the carrier.

“Japan continues to be one of the most important and beloved destinations in Delta’s global network and adding Seattle-Narita service gives our Seattle customers even more choice when planning their travel,” Jeff Arinder, Delta’s vice president of international network planning, said in the port release. “With service to both Haneda and Narita, Delta will offer more capacity and two convenient ways to access Tokyo from the Pacific Northwest, supported by the strength of our U.S. network and our commitment to connecting customers to the places they want to go most.”

The new route also will provide added cargo capacity between Japan and the U.S., supporting demand for freight and helping connect one of Asia’s most important commercial markets to the West Coast and markets across the Americas, Delta said.

The flight from SEA to Tokyo-Narita, beginning March 27, will leave at 1:35 p.m. and arrive at Tokyo-Narita at 4:20 p.m. the next day. The return flight will depart Tokyo-Narita at 6:30 p.m. and arrive at SEA at noon.

Alaska Airlines began nonstop service from SEA to Tokyo-Narita last year.

This year, six new intercontinental services have debuted at SEA: Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong; Alaska to Rome, London, and Reykjavik; and Delta to Rome and Barcelona.

How to Host a Dreamy, Moonlit Garden Dinner

Originally published on 425. After watching the Artemis II moon mission, I couldn’t shake the urge to host a moonlit dinner in the garden. I’ve long felt the moon’s pull. Perhaps it’s the July birthday, or the hand-me-down Scholastic paperback planet books I pored over as a kid. Either way, I’m moonstruck. This July/August “moonstruck” […]
