HealthPoint to Open New Integrated Health Services Clinic Serving Kent East Hill

Renton-based health care providers HealthPoint and Valley Medical Center & Clinics are collaborating to expand access to health care services in Kent with the opening of a new HealthPoint clinic at the site of Valley’s former Kent Primary Care Clinic, the nonprofit organizations announced Monday.

Scheduled to open in early fall, HealthPoint’s new Kent East Hill Clinic — located at 24920 104th Ave. SE — will provide urgently needed integrated primary, pregnancy and reproductive, and behavioral health care, with pharmacy and dental services expected to be available in 2027. The new clinic will improve access for patients and families, reduce barriers to care, and support healthier outcomes across the Kent community, according to a joint news release.

Valley closed the Kent Primary Care site in June 2025, one of several steps it took last year to address financial challenges. When it announced the cuts in May 2025, it cited “significant financial instabilities and uncertainties created by the state and federal government and private sector reimbursements,” adding that it needed to scale back operations to match its shifting finances and was restructuring its workforce, and consolidating and closing of some clinics and departments. It cited a year-to-date operating loss of $25 million and growing when it announced the reductions May 12, 2025.

When it announced the Kent Primary Care closure last year, Valley listed HealthPoint — a community-based, -supported, and -governed network of nonprofit health centers with 20 locations throughout King County that serve more than 100,000 patients and provided care in 70 languages in 2025 — among alternatives for care in the area.

Valley has owned the Kent property for more than 30 years and HealthPoint is leasing it, according to an email from Liz Nolan, Valley’s chief communications officer.

Valley and HealthPoint both recognize the tremendous need for primary care in the Kent East Hill community, Nolan said. She added that, as a Federally Qualified Health Center, HealthPoint is able to provide a deeper breadth of integrative and wraparound services, including primary care, pregnancy and reproductive care, social services, and behavioral health resources ahead of next year’s expected addition of pharmacy and dental services.

“HealthPoint will run the Kent East Hill facility and we are currently in planning for the many shared patients that we expect will need hospital and specialty care,” Nolan wrote.

Valley serves more than 600,000 residents through a comprehensive network of more than 50 primary, urgent, and specialty care clinics across South King County, and a 341-bed acute care hospital located in Renton.

Community needs assessments by both organizations, as well as public health data, consistently identify Kent as one of the areas with the greatest unmet primary care need in King County, Monday’s release said.

HealthPoint CEO Lisa Yohalem said HealthPoint for years has seen growing demand for primary care services in Kent, particularly in the East Hill community, where the need for accessible, integrated care outpaces available capacity.

“Valley’s offer for us to take over this site is the kind of responsive, community-centered collaboration we need to improve health outcomes across our region,” Yohalem said in the release. “We’re excited to build and grow this partnership together to improve access and provide tools that help HealthPoint’s and Valley’s teams improve continuity of care and health outcomes for the people we serve.”

Valley Medical Center & Clinics CEO, Jeannine Erickson Grinnell, added that HealthPoint and Valley have served the Kent community for decades and share a deep commitment to community-centered care.

“We look forward to furthering our mutual mission of improving the health of the communities we serve by expanding healthcare access in Kent, within the heart of our hospital district,” Grinnell said in the release.

Valley Medical Center & Clinics is an independent public-hospital district serving South King County and surrounding communities. Also known as Public Hospital District No. 1 of King County, its district includes the cities of Kent, Renton, Tukwila, and portions of Auburn, Black Diamond, Covington, Federal Way, Maple Valley, Newcastle, and Seattle.

Kent Mayor Dana Ralph called access to quality health care essential to a strong community.
