A new hiking route has been established on The Canine at Snoqualmie Pass.

Called The Handsome Mongrel, the route is adjacent to The Tooth massif. Outdoor photographer and gallery owner Scott Rinckenberger and Jack Taylor were the first to ascend the new route. The pair helped create and fine-tune the pathway over the course of several years, installing bolts in noninvasive ways to adhere to wilderness ethics, according to a press release.

“With pride, love to the community, and love for the place, we offer up Handsome Mongrel. 5 pitches, 5.11,” Rinckenberger said in a statement. “The route name harkens to the hand-drilled protection, the mixed style of climbing, and the location on The Canine. Our work here is done. It’s your turn. We can’t wait to hear from the community as climbers begin to sample the goods. Enjoy, and let me know how it goes.”

More details on the climb can be found here.
