Christiansen’s home was designed by Christiansen and Paul H. Kirk, two architectural icons involved in building various structures across Seattle over their years.
“This was Christiansen’s own residence, a personal expression of his structural vision & life’s work,” the Redfin listing stated.
The luxury home was initially built in 1965 and sits on a 2.03-acre plot of land with 175 feet of Port Orchard waterfront. Key features include spacious living rooms, scenic deck views, and a waterfront fire pit with a dock.
The Christiansen House is “a bold interplay of engineering and art, the home’s dramatic hyperbolic-paraboloid thin-shell concrete design—pioneered by Christiansen—appears to float above the living space, giving way to floor-to-ceiling glass and sweeping west-facing views of the Sound and the Olympics,” the Redfin listing stated.
Christiansen’s home spans more than 3,600 square feet in total, including four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
The Bainbridge Island home was originally listed in April 2018 for nearly $1.4 million and sold less than a month later in May. The $4.4 million listing in 2025 represents a $3 million price increase in the last seven years.
