Wildlife is part of the magic of Yellowstone National Park. Bison often roam open valleys, wolves move through forests and grizzly bears wander the backcountry. For a closer look at the animals that define the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem, head to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.

Much more than a traditional zoo, the nonprofit wildlife park is home to rescued animals that can no longer survive in the wild. Many of the grizzlies and wolves onsite were orphaned, habituated to humans or injured, and you’ll get a chance to learn their stories as you meet the animals.

Inside the center, you can watch grizzly bears forage and play, observe wolf packs interacting, spot river otters darting through the water and meet the birds of prey. Furry friends include the famously energetic ground squirrels at home in their underground tunnel city. Because education is a major part of the experience, programs for kids and adults alike are offered throughout the day, including Wolf Pack Chats, Bear Basics and Raptor Rap to help you learn about wildlife safety and the animals.
