Ski season may be over, but that doesn’t stop travelers from boarding the iconic aerial tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. In fact, summer may be the most popular time to ride, because of the views, and the things that await. Climbing more than 4,000 feet to the top of Rendezvous Mountain, the aerial tram offers sweeping views of the Tetons, Jackson Hole Valley and surrounding mountain ranges along the way. Once at the summit, you can hike alpine trails, spot wildflowers and take in the crisp mountain air from 10,450 feet above sea level.
But ask regulars why they ride, and many will tell you the real reward: waffles. Tucked beside the tram station, Corbet’s Cabin has become legendary for its “Top of the World Waffles.” Served all day, the made-to-order waffles come piled with toppings like brown sugar butter, Nutella, and their peanut butter and bacon (don’t knock it until you try it). Once you’ve gotten your fill, head to the Grand Teton Skywalk, a scenic walkway near the summit offering panoramic mountain views that stretch across the valley below.
Whether you hike, sightsee or simply come for waffles in the clouds, the aerial tram remains one of Wyoming’s more unforgettable rides in the summer. Plan your trip at jacksonhole.com.
