The former home of The News Tribune has changed hands.
According to The News Tribune, the 13-acre Tacoma property was sold for $55 million to a Denver-based company affiliated with Los Angeles investment firm Ares Management.
The seller was an affiliate of Kent-based Davis Property & Investment. After purchasing the property from The News Tribune’s parent company, McClatchy, for $15.5 million in 2021, Davis Property & Investment redeveloped the site into Tacoma Central Logistics. According to the article, the building is now leased and occupied by Moose Toys, an Australian toy manufacturer and distributor.
The newspaper vacated the property, at 1950 S. State St., in 2021 after relocating its operations to downtown Tacoma.
The News Tribune also reported that a large Chihuly glass installation that once greeted visitors in the building’s lobby remains in storage while Davis Property & Investment works with the Museum of Glass to find it a permanent home.
