The Port of Grays Harbor has received a $6.2-million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to replace Westport Marina Float 21. The grant will be matched by $2.6 million in non-federal funds.

The new float will feature wider and longer slips to accommodate a growing commercial fishing fleet, along with upgraded electrical, water, lighting, and fire-suppression systems. The project is also expected to improve safety and reduce environmental impacts on the harbor.

With permitting and funding complete, construction is expected to move forward soon, marking the first new commercial dock construction at Westport Marina in nearly 50 years.

“We are incredibly grateful to the EDA for this funding opportunity to kick off the modernization of the marina’s floating dock infrastructure that supports hundreds of jobs and a diverse working waterfront,” Port of Grays Harbor Commission President Stan Pinnick said in a release.
