Sound Credit Union has announced that starting today, it’s temporarily closing its Parkland branch to begin the demolition and construction of a new, modernized bank.

The current building was originally constructed in 1977 and was a Pacific First Federal Savings and Loan branch. Sound Credit Union has operated out of and has owned the location since 1997.

“We have more than 17,000 members who live within a 5-mile radius of this branch,” Ryan Zilker, executive vice president and chief growth officer of Sound Credit Union, said in a release. “While we have made improvements to the facility over the years, the time is right to invest in a new branch that will enhance the member experience and strengthen our ability to serve the Parkland community for decades to come.”

The new building is expected to open sometime during the second quarter of 2027, according to the release. The closest location for those who bank with Sound Credit Union is at 3633 Pacific Ave.
