A Cat-Rescue Mission

Sixty cats were rescued this week from a sailboat stationed at Tacoma’s Owen Beach over the weekend. The vessel’s owner has since said that he couldn’t afford to neuter and spay the growing cat population that originated from a COVID-era adoption. King 5 reported yesterday that more than 40 of the recovered felines are at the Tacoma Humane Society while the others are in foster homes. (They won’t be available for adoption, though, until an investigation is completed.) Get more details about the ongoing effort here.

Tacoma’s North Slope Historic Park Begins Playground Construction

The new play area will include circular covered swings, a climbing structure, and two new slides. The area’s surfacing will also be getting an update with new ADA-compliant wood fiber. Find out more here.
