A man in his 20s was taken into custody after an argument led to a fatal shooting on a transit bus Sunday night in Everett.

Police were called at about 8:10 p.m. to a report of gunfire on a bus in the 7700 block of Evergreen Way.

Everett police said two men riding on a southbound Community Transit bus on the highway got into an argument, which led to a man in his 30s being shot.

Officers who arrived at the scene attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim died at the scene, police said.

The shooting suspect was immediately arrested.

Others who were on the bus were not injured.

The southbound lanes were shut down for the shooting but later reopened.

The investigation remains ongoing.
