An 11-year-old boy is now in custody after allegedly trying to stab a student at a Lynnwood middle school last Friday. KIRO 7 reported Monday that the boy’s parents turned him in over the weekend.

The child who reportedly attempted the stabbing is believed to be a former student at the school.

“The suspect, an 11-year-old male, arrived at the campus and attempted to stab another student,” the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department stated. “A teacher witnessed the incident and intervened, preventing the victim from being injured. The suspect then fled on foot and is currently outstanding.”

While there is no active threat to students, staff, or the school, the incident remains an active investigation.
