Sheriff’s deputies have determined that a 13-year-old girl is responsible for threats to shoot staff and students at her school in Issaquah.

The threats were made online and the Issaquah School District delayed the start of school Tuesday at Pacific Cascade Middle School out of an “abundance of caution.”

When deputies contacted the girl at her home and notified her parent, they determined that the child did not have access to guns, according to a statement from the King County Sheriff.

A detective is investigating further and it’s possible the girl could face a charge of felony harassment.

The threat comes on the heels of the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting, that left four dead and two injured. After a week off of school, MPHS students returned to school Monday.
