2011 a less deadly year for Washington workers

In Washington, 2010 was one of the deadliest years for workers with 104 fatal accidents.
The latest statistics have been released, and 2011 was far less deadly – with a 44 percent drop in workplace fatalities.
Todd Johnson, an economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics, says the most common accidents were related to transportation.
“These were actually particularly high in Washington. They did represent half of all workplace fatalities.”
The 58 on-the-job fatalities in 2011 make for the lowest total in the state in nearly two decades.
