3 teens arrested in connection with series of robberies, drive-by shooting

Three teens were arrested in connection with a series of robberies and a drive-by shooting last month in Seattle, police said.
Investigators said the teens, a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, are suspected in three armed robberies in the Ballard and Fremont neighborhoods July 26. In one case, one person was assaulted.
In each robbery, police said the suspects left in a white Ford sedan, which had been stolen the day before in an armed carjacking in Renton.
On July 27, officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 9900 block of 51st Avenue South.
Investigators said a child was hurt by shrapnel that hit a home. The child was treated by medics.
Police said about 30 minutes after the shooting, they received another report of a drive-by shooting at a home near 25th Avenue and East Pine Street. No injuries were reported.
About an hour later, officers found the suspect vehicle and started to pursue it.
The suspect vehicle was involved in two minor crashes and then one that stalled it on the I-5 exit ramp to the West Seattle Bridge.
Police said the three teens tried to run away but were apprehended by Seattle police and the Washington State Patrol. One of the teens threw a handgun off the freeway but it was later recovered by officers.
The teens were taken to police headquarters to be interviewed. Police said the two boys were booked into the Youth Services Center and the girl was released.
This remains as an active and ongoing investigation.
