Pet Power: PAWSwalk – Saturday, August 26. Join 1,200 animal fans and their dogs for the 5K walk and fun run at Marymoor Park. Once you’re done walking or running, keep the celebration going by enjoying animal-friendly food trucks, dog agility demonstrations, adoptable PAWS dogs, a mimosa garden and more! Details.

Fair Fun: Evergreen State Fair – starting Thursday, August 24 thru September 4. Loads of fun can be had at the fair for families who want to enjoy carnival rides, concerts, animal races and even a lumberjack show. There’s even going to be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to test the hoop skills. 14405 179th AVE SE Monroe. Details.

Flying High: Washington State International Kite Festival – August 21-27. This event features all kinds of kites which have activities from kite ballet, fighter kites. In addition, those attending can enjoy fireworks and even an exhibit of numerous kites flying all at the same time. This festival takes place just blocks from downtown Long Beach, Washington. Park Discovery: State Parks Free Days – Friday, August 25. The National Park Service will be celebrating its 101st birthday. It is a day that the Discover Pass will not be required when visiting a state park. Details.

Nature Fun: Arts in Nature Festival – Saturday & Sunday, August 26-27. At the festival, you can expect to outdoor performance stages with various acts that will include jazz, classical, bluegrass, and even the spoken word. There will be hands-on art and other nature activities. And don’t forget the writing workshops and open mics. There will also be food trucks there to please the appetite. This event will take place at Camp Long, 5200 35th Ave SW, Seattle. Details.

Chehalis Garlic Fest & Craft Show: Friday to Sunday, August 25-27. This event is expected to have plenty of garlic themed cuisine. Don’t forget the artisan and craft vendors that will be on hand and chef demonstrations. The little ones can also participate in kids activities.
