Ahead of sentencing, prosecutors want 99 years tacked on to Kohberger’s no-contact orders

Jul 22, 2025, 3:52 PM | Updated: 3:53 pm

Bryan Kohberger is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday morning for the 2022 killings of four University of Idaho students in an off-campus home.

The state of Idaho has filed a motion to extend existing no-contact orders that prohibit Kohberger from communicating with the victims’ families, KIRO 7 reported. Those orders are currently set to expire in January 2027.

Prosecutors are requesting a 99-year extension, citing the severity of the crimes and Kohberger’s recent guilty plea. That plea will spare him the death penalty.

Kohberger admitted to fatally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin at their home in Moscow in November 2022.
