Rachel Burkheimer, 18, was murdered on Sept. 23, 2002. Her body was later found near Gold Bar, Wash.

One of eight men convicted in the 2002 kidnap and murder of Marysville teen Rachel Burkheimer is back in jail.

Jeffrey Barth, 31, was arrested on July 9 for two counts of assault, two counts of criminal trespass, two counts of harassment, two counts of intimidating a witness and one parole violation. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail where he remains held on $150,000 bail.

Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest was for domestic violence, but could not provide further details.

In 2004, Barth pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping with a firearm for his role in the murder of Burkheimer.

“I’m no longer the kid I used to be,” Barth told the court at sentencing. “I’m very sorry for what happened. I have to live knowing that I could have stopped what happened.”

Snohomish County Superior Court Judge James Allendoerfer sentenced Barth to almost ten years in prison, saying he “could have saved Rachel but didn’t.”

Burkheimer, 18, was murdered on Sept. 23, 2002. Her body was later found near Gold Bar, Wash. She had been beaten and taken to the site, where she was shot and killed by an ex-boyfriend and several others, including Barth, who was 23-years-old at the time.

According to the Department of Corrections, Barth was released from Stafford Creek Corrections Center on Sept. 6, 2011. He remains on community supervision.
