Accused kidnapper wins release, prosecutors object

Jan 4, 2013, 8:07 AM | Updated: 9:26 am

A judge has released a man charged with kidnapping a woman at a Seattle nightclub and threatening to kill her.

The 22-year-old woman told police two men planned to take her to Las Vegas and force her to work as a prostitute.

The Seattle PI reports she escaped by jumping from a moving car and was hospitalized for several weeks.

A King County Superior Court Judge Theresa Doyle this week allowed Randy Stevens to go to work release, without posting bond, even though King County prosecutors asked for bail of $500,000.

An arrest warrant was issued for a co-defendant, a 28-year-old California man. Prosecutors contend the two men discussed killing the woman before she escaped.
