Activists protesting animal research facility removed from machinery at University of Washington

Activists protesting a new animal testing facility on the University of Washington campus were removed from the construction equipment they were chained to Monday afternoon.

The two activists attached themselves to a machine to protest the new building. A website dedicated to opposing the the animal lab posted about the action:
“Early this morning, an activist climbed to the top of an excavator and stopped construction on the site of the proposed Animal Research and Care Facility at the University of Washington. He is currently locked to the hydrolic lift at the top of the piece of heavy equipment, from which he has hung a banner reading, ‘YOU WILL NOT BUILD THIS LAB.'”
It is the latest action taken by the group opposed to the animal testing lab. On Friday, activists swarmed the UW president’s office following a rally on the campus. Activists have also waged letter-writing campaigns to UW and Skanska — the construction company building the facility — and have even held an informational bake sale outside of the home of COO David Schmidt in Beaverton, Ore.
