A multiple-car collision halted all southbound traffic on I-5 at the West Seattle Bridge amid the Thursday morning commute.
The incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on southbound I-5, near Spokane Street and the West Seattle Bridge. One lane of the freeway was opened by 9:15 a.m. All lanes were open by 9:20 a.m. but traffic remained heavily impacted leaving the downtown Seattle area. WSDOT notes that backups remained “very lengthy” upon reopening the lanes. Bus service was delayed through the area around Spokane Street.

The incident left a van hanging off the center median. The Seattle Fire Department reports that “all vehicle occupants are in stable condition,” with “minor injuries.”
