Two people were hit in the parking lot at the Covington Walmart Thursday night as they were walking into the store.

A man in his 40’s was thrown onto the hood of a red SUV and a 45-year-old woman was pinned underneath the vehicle.

“The people started yelling and screaming and pointing to the front of the store. Deputies found a woman trapped under the vehicle directly in front of the store,” said Sgt. Cindi West with the King County Sheriff’s Office.

West said both the man and woman was flown to Harborview Medical Center. She suffered injuries to her pelvis and head, and the man sustained head injuries.

Deputies say the 71-year-old man driving the SUV had been drinking.

KIRO Radio reporter Brandi Kruse contributed to this story.
