The 14-year-old charged with shooting and killing a classmate at Ingraham High School went before a King County Judge Tuesday.

The alleged shooter did not enter a formal plea regarding murder, assault, and weapons charges while a second teenager, age 15, who was found with a gun in his backpack pleaded not guilty to weapons and rendering assistance charges.

“Prosecutors argued for both of them to be held and we’re thankful that a judge agreed with that,” said Casey McNerthney, Director of CommunicationsKing County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

McNerthney said a future hearing will determine if the case would be moved from juvenile court to King County Superior Court for adult prosecution.

The incident started with a fight over the gun that was allegedly used in the shooting, according to court documents acquired by KIRO Newsradio. A fight involving several students inside an on-campus bathroom occurred moments before shots were fired.

The suspects ran away from the school and hid in a nearby neighborhood after the shooting. The two teenagers were eventually found and arrested at a bus stop on Aurora Avenue.
