Dec 5, 2016, 7:46 AM | Updated: 8:38 am

Checkout lines at the grocery store may soon be a thing of the past thanks to Amazon.

The local tech company announced Amazon Go and the “world’s most advanced shopping technology.”

The Seattle Times reports Amazon Go is a brick-and-mortar store currently being tested by Amazon employees. The store, located in Belltown at Seventh Avenue and Blanchard, allows shoppers to buy groceries without having to actually stop and pay.

Amazon Go shoppers use the Amazon Go app when they enter the store — scanning a QR code as they walk in. Everything a shopper picks up is automatically added to their virtual cart. When the shopper leaves, they are automatically charged for the items in their bag.

Amazon is calling it “just walk out technology.” The technology is similar to that of self-driving vehicles.

The announcement of Amazon Go follows the companies ventures into bookstores and drive-up grocery stores.
