Amazon is reportedly close to naming the two cities it that will split the company’s HQ2, according to the Washington Post.

The three cities reportedly in the running are Crystal City in Virginia, New York City, and Dallas.

The Post reports recent discussions about placing an HQ2 location in Crystal City include how to move employees, specific buildings, and how to make the announcement. The discussions have been more detailed than those of other front runners in the area.

People close to the process told the Post that the company could move several hundred employees to one of two office buildings that have been slated for redevelopment.

“There’s a lot of activity,” a person close to the process told the Post, adding it “seem(s) really positive, and they seem pretty confident. . . . What we don’t know, maybe there are two or three other sites, and they’re doing the same thing. That’s what’s scary to people around here.”

The decision process has been going on since at least the end of 2017 when Amazon essentially launched a contest that sparked competition among cities across the world, including in Seattle and other areas across Washington state. The list was narrowed to 20.

An announcement is rumored for November, and according to the Journal, it could come as early as this week.
