A vehicle caught fire after crashing into a wooded area in unincorporated Arlington, requiring law enforcement to rescue the driver from the burning vehicle.
At approximately 10:10 p.m. on Oct. 14, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies responded to the collision, where the driver was still inside the vehicle, SCSO announced Monday.
Deputies traversed the hillside and made contact with the driver, successfully pulling him from the burning vehicle.
The driver was struggling to walk and needed Deputies Pavlina and Goldsmith to support him as they carried him up the hill to safety.
Shortly after, the whole vehicle was engulfed in flames. While medical personnel were en route, the driver became unresponsive and stopped breathing.
Both deputies began CPR and continued these life-saving efforts for roughly seven minutes until medics arrived on scene.
Ultimately, the driver was successfully resuscitated at the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital.
“The quick thinking and decisive actions of Deputies Pavlina and Goldsmith saved a life and reflect the highest traditions of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office,” SCSO stated.
