An arrest was made early Thursday morning in the case of a driver who dragged a Tacoma police officer with his car during a traffic stop earlier this week.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a car for driving without headlights about 3 a.m. in the 5300 block of East “I” Street.

Deputies recognized a passenger in the vehicle from a flyer, even though the passenger gave a false name.

The passenger was arrested for assault.

The Tacoma officer dragged for a distance by the driver’s car door during Monday’s traffic stop has minor injuries. After he got free, the officer fired several shots.
