Family of Aurora homicide victim taking action to track down killer

The family of a man shot and killed on Aurora Avenue in August is taking action to track down his killer.

Angelina Bundy walked up and down Aurora Avenue. She handed out flyers and talked to anyone who would listen in the same area where her son, Lloyd Whitney, was killed.

Whitney, who was 34, was gunned down on Aurora and 102nd in the early morning hours of Aug. 22.

“It’s been a nightmare. It’s been a nightmare. The family is torn apart,” Bundy said.

For the past three months, her son’s killing has been a mystery.

But now, police have released photos of the suspected gunman who they say fired shots across Aurora, hitting Lloyd in the head. Police also released a video of the man. He’s walking with two other people about an hour before the shooting.

Bundy and other loved ones are now plastering the suspect’s picture in the area and calling on the public to help get justice.

“This one and this one have been continually burning candles. But we’re beyond candle burning. We want the community to say, this man lives next door to me. This man comes here to get his gas,” Bundy said.

Bundy says Lloyd was a protector, someone who always looked out for those he loved, especially his four young kids. They also did their part to post flyers on trees, businesses, anywhere they could.

Meanwhile, Bundy vows to not give up. She also pleaded with the suspect to do the right thing.

“My son lived. You took my life. Okay. None of us are sleeping through the night. It’s going to be some years before that happens and having him come forward is just the beginning of a process that allows us to heal,” Bundy said.
