Seattle baseball fans have until Oct. 31 to enter the lottery for a chance to catch some Banana Ball at T-Mobile Park, where the Loco Beach Coconuts will take on the Party Animals on April 23 and April 24, 2027.

Banana Ball, created by the Savannah Bananas, is a fast-paced style of baseball featuring unique rules, including no bunting, a two-hour time limit, fans catching foul balls for outs, batters stealing first base, and a one-on-one tiebreaker showdown if a game ends tied.

Where did Banana Ball come from?

The Savannah Bananas, based in Savannah, Georgia, were founded in 2016 as part of the Coastal Plain League. The Coastal Plain League is a collegiate summer baseball league in the southeastern U.S. The league originated in 1937 and was revived in 1997 after several periods of inactivity.

The start of something new

Fast forward many years, and Banana Ball launched in 2020, a concept created by the Savannah Bananas organization. The team played its first Banana Ball game that year, while it was still a member of the Coastal Plain League.

Later in 2020, the Party Animals became the first official rival team. By 2021, Banana Ball played its first games outside of Savannah. In 2022, the Savannah Bananas left the Coastal Plain League to become a full-time Banana Ball team.

After a series of nationwide tours, the league introduced four additional teams between 2023 and 2026: the Firefighters, Texas Tailgaters, Loco Beach Coconuts, and Indianapolis Clowns.

Banana Ball earned a place in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., in 2023.

A return to Seattle

The Savannah Banana’s first came to Seattle in 2025, KIRO 7 reported. This time the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Party Animals will take the mound in Seattle, in full Banana Ball style.

Fans can enter the lottery and find more information here. The deadline is Oct. 31 at 8:59 p.m.
