Bellevue Chick-fil-A busted for ‘critical’ violations

If you’ve enjoyed Chick-fil-A recently, there’s a chance your sandwich included a side of bacteria.

All three locations have been hit with health code violations since their respective grand openings. That includes the Bellevue location, which was the first to open and latest to receive poor health scores.

The Bellevue Chick-fil-A received an “unsatisfactory” score of 55 on July 15, which included 50 “critical violation points.” A restaurant with 90 or more critical points is required to close.

The restaurant was not properly cooling its food and employees were not taking proper steps to avoid bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods, according to the inspection report from the King County Public Health Department. Both those violations are considered “critical,” bumping up the risks of causing food-borne illness. Wiping cloths were also not being properly used and stored.

The Lynnwood location didn’t fair very well, either. On July 1, the restaurant received three critical violations, including improper temperature storage and a violation for hand washing or hand washing facilities.

“Handwashing [sic] must be a priority!” the health inspector wrote in their report. “Ensure hand sinks are ALWAYS accessible!”

The Lynnwood restaurant corrected its violations while the inspector was on-site, according to the report.

And let’s not forget about Tacoma’s Chick-fil-A.

During an inspection on April 23, the restaurant was in violation of not following proper cooling procedures and hot holding temperatures.

During a follow-up inspection in May, there were no violations at the Tacoma restaurant.

So what’s scarier: The thought of an earthquake destroying everything west of I-5 or being uncertain of what is in that chicken?
