The city of Bellevue is getting three new red light cameras and a school zone speed camera next month.

After recommendations from the police department in March, the city council approved the additional cameras located at:

NE 8th Street at 112th Avenue NE (eastbound and westbound), NE 8th Street at 116th Avenue NE (westbound only), and Sunset Elementary, 4400 West Lake Sammamish Parkway SE.

The Bellevue Police Department’s recommendation was based on data gathered at Northeast Eighth Street and at Sunset Elementary School.

The city says the cameras are in place to help keep Bellevue’s traffic crash rate among the lowest in the state. Data showed the number of infractions from both speed and red-light cameras have decreased from 22,798 in 2010 to 11,956 in 2013.
