Belltown violence: 2 separate shootings leave 2 dead, 3 injured early Sunday morning

Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood is reeling from a horrible morning of violence.

Two separate shootings left two people dead and three others injured.

At around 12:40 a.m. Sunday,  911 callers reported to dispatchers that there were two shooting victims.

One was near 3rd and Denny, and the other a couple of blocks away at 3rd and Clay St.

Police located the man on Denny.

Medics arrived and transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, but he died later.

The other man, found on Clay St. near 3rd Ave, had also been shot.

An ambulance took him to Harborview.

He is reported to be in serious condition.

Police say a short time later, two more people showed up at Harborview on their own.

They were also suffering from gunshot wounds, but the extent of their injuries was not revealed.

Utilizing information provided by the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), police say it appears an altercation involving three people occurred on the street shortly before the shooting.

Homicide Unit and Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives responded and are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.

Police say, a little more than an hour later, a second shooting took a woman’s life.

Seattle police detectives are still piecing together details, but they say someone fired several shots into a parked car at 3rd and Blanchard, just a few blocks from the first shooting.

A woman inside the car was shot in the head and torso.

Investigators say a suspect fired the shots, then left the scene.

Medics arrived and tried life-saving efforts.

They transported the injured woman to Harborview in critical condition.

But she died a short time later.

Homicide detectives are working to gather evidence, talk to witnesses, and identify the shooters in both of these incidents.
