Bicycle riders took the streets of downtown Seattle Friday afternoon to honor a fellow cyclist killed in a crash on his commute.

54-year old Lance David died when he was struck by a truck early Wednesday on East Marginal Way near the West Seattle Bridge.

Co-worker Marty Sparks uses the same route to work and organized the ride for David.

Sparks is just back on his bike after being hit in December. He says bicycle safety can’t end with painted bike lanes. He says people have to watch out for one another.

Sparks says the crash site is a sketchy route, with no easy way to get across to the bike lane from the W-Seattle bridge to E. Marg Way. He says the road is also not in very good condition.
