The body of a missing pregnant woman from Parkland was found down a cliff in University Place on Tuesday.

A Pierce County sheriff’s SWAT team arrested Kassandra Cantrell’s ex-boyfriend at his home in Tacoma just hours after the body was discovered. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said the 37-year-old man will be booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Cantrell was last seen on Aug. 25 while leaving her family’s home. Relatives reported her missing two days later after learning she may have missed her first ultrasound appointment. They said her disappearance was out of character.

A day later, Cantrell’s white Mazda 3 sedan was found near the Tacoma Dome.

The sheriff’s office said it has surveillance video showing a person of interest walking from Cantrell’s abandoned Mazda to a nearby parking garage and then leaving in a truck. Detectives were able to use the license plate to identify the owner as Cantrell’s ex-boyfriend. He was also identified in the video.
