Both sides are talking tough as Boeing engineers prepare to count votes on a new contract offer.
Members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) say they don’t like the offer. At a meeting on Wednesday, some sported shirts and badges reading: “I’m voting no.” There’s talk of a strike but no deadline.
Boeing is telling its 23,000 Puget Sound-area engineers it needs to hold down costs, otherwise more work might have to go outside the region.
The engineers got Boeing’s first offer about two weeks ago and the union will tally the ballots on Monday.
One industry analyst predicts overwhelming rejection of the company offer.
