Boeing Senior Vice President Patrick Shanahan is President Donald Trump’s nominee to take over the No. 2 role at the Pentagon.

Report: Big 737 order is good news for Boeing

The White House announced today that Shanahan’s been picked to serve as the U.S. deputy secretary of defense.

In addition to Shanahan’s long career on the commercial side, he also led Boeing Missile Defense Systems program in Washington D.C. and oversaw all U.S Army aviation programs.

Shanahan is a Seattle native who graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School and the University of Washington.

If confirmed by the Senate, Shanahan would succeed Robert Work, an Obama administration holdover.
