Box truck breaks through guardrail, dangles over I-5 in Seattle

A box truck rolled down a hill, slammed through a guardrail, and was left dangling over northbound I-5 just south of State Route 520 in Seattle Saturday afternoon.
The incident forced officers to shut down the two right lanes of I-5 shortly before 3 p.m. The truck crashed at East Boston Street and Harvard Avenue East.
Washington State Patrol troopers and Seattle police were called to the scene. Police and crews with the Seattle Department of Transportation worked to clear the road where the truck crashed through the guardrail.
According to officials, the driver of the box truck was traveling east and uphill along East Boston Street when, for an unknown reason, the truck began rolling back down the hill and broke through the guardrail and stopped.
None of the truck’s tires were hanging over the ledge, officials said.
Delays were expected as troopers and Seattle police worked to tow the truck away.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
