Brush fire prompts evacuations in Bonney Lake

At least 20 homes were evacuated in a Bonney Lake neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Another 20 homes were placed on standby, but evacuations were called off before more were needed.

The fire was located on the east side of the Sky Island neighborhood.

Crews reported the fire “appears” under control at about 5:30 p.m.. They planned to stay on scene after it it was out to make sure potential embers don’t start “spot fires” in the area.

No injuries were reported.
