Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano doesn’t just want to make plays on the ball field this season.

Cano is preparing for an event to benefit his RC22 Foundation in the Dominican Republic, and other Seattle-based charities.

The event, Canoche, will be June 3 at the Paramount Theater. Canoche will feature a live orchestral performance, dinner, dancing and an auction.

Canoche is a chance to introduce Seattle to his foundation.

“I want to share the work of my Foundation, which develops and expands high quality opportunities for kids in need specifically in the areas of education, wellness and fitness,” Cano said. “I also look forward to reaching more disadvantaged youth and communities not only in the Dominican Republic but also here in this beautiful city of Seattle.”

Since it was formed in 2010, Cano’s foundation has focused on youth development and community health care in the Dominican Republic. The foundation’s latest project is the Dream School, an early childhood educational institution and community center in Cano’s hometown of San Pedro de Macoris.

Individual tickets will be offered at a later date.
