A 57-year-old Cashmere man who had been missing for nearly two weeks was found dead in a remote area of Chelan County.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Christopher A. Steiner’s body was found on Friday in brush near a roadway in the Tibbetts Mountain area. Two people in the area discovered the body.
Steiner had been missing since late August
Steiner was reported missing on Aug. 30. A search effort was launched by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies and community volunteers. Deputies searched the surrounding area, but didn’t find anything.
Chelan County Coroner Earl Crowe positively identified the body found on Friday as Steiner.
No foul play suspected
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said foul play is not suspected at this time. However, the investigation into Steiner’s death is ongoing, including the cause of death. Additional information will be shared as the investigation continues.
“While nothing can lessen the loss experienced by Mr. Steiner’s family, the sheriff’s office is grateful that he was located and that his family can now have some measure of closure,” authorities stated on Facebook.
