A $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of any suspects responsible for lighting the deadly Chelan Hills Fire in Orondo.

Both Douglas County and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are offering the reward for information on the fire that started on July 4, Douglas County announced.

The Chelan Hills Fire burned roughly 10,000 acres of land, destroyed many homes and structures, and killed one person.

Investigators say evidence points to a person behind the Chelan Hills Fire

In July, Douglas County’s Board of Commissioners pledged $25,000 for information leading to an arrest. The ATF has since joined the investigation, adding another $5,000 to the reward.

Investigators said they have evidence that a person caused the fire, though that evidence has not been released.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is urged to come forward, either by calling the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at (509) 699-3283 or by email.

Tips can also be submitted to the ATF by phone at (888) 283-8477 or by email.

“Even seemingly minor details could prove valuable to the investigation,” Douglas County stated.
