Seattle police are investigating another shooting in the CHOP area near 12th Avenue and Pike Street early Monday morning.

Gunfire was heard around 3 a.m., as a white Jeep Cherokee drove into one of the CHOP barricades. SPD reports “several unidentified people had fired shots into the Jeep.”

The first of two victims arrived at Harborview Medical Center around 3:15 a.m. The second — a 14-year-old Black male — was transported by Seattle Fire Department medics roughly 15 minutes later. The teen is in critical condition. The first victim, a 16 year-old male, died at Harborview.

SPD believes both victims were occupants of the Jeep.

This marks the the fourth shooting in or around the CHOP in less than 10 days — a 19-year-old man died last weekend. At least five others have been injured in those four shootings, including these latest victims.

Addressing the media Monday morning, SPD Chief Carmen Best stated that “enough is enough.”

“This isn’t safe for anybody,” she said, emphasizing the need for CHOP protesters to leave. “We want people to move out of the area. Continue your peaceful demonstration in a place where you’re not affecting public safety.”
