The National Weather Service in Seattle reported more than two inches of snow Christmas morning in several areas around Western Washington. But melting snow could mean treacherous conditions for drivers on Tuesday morning.
Forecasters say that leftover snow on roadways will freeze and turn to black ice, which is hard to see and slippery.
In addition to black ice, the National Weather Service says the region can expect areas of freezing fog Tuesday morning, with visibility reduced to 1/4 mile at times.
Tuesday is expected to be dry and sunny before a chance of rain or snow returns late Wednesday.
The last time it snowed on Christmas Day in Western Washington was in 2008.
