The Climate Pledge Arena and Seattle Kraken announced that all guests age 12 and older must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon entry.

This requirement applies to all guests age 12 and older attending Kraken games, concerts, and events at Climate Pledge Arena. For now, guests are also required to wear a mask while attending events until guidance changes in Washington state.

A press release from the arena on the requirement says the Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena will “introduce a seamless and convenient process to allow guests to show proof of full vaccination via their smartphones.”

“On March 1, 2018, we started this amazing journey together to build a new arena under an historical roof and bring the 32nd NHL franchise to Seattle,” said Seattle Kraken CEO Todd Leiweke. “We are now poised to open Climate Pledge Arena and celebrate together, at capacity, in an environment that is safe for our fans, staff, players, and artists.”

Full-time and part-time employees at the arena and contractors are also required to be fully vaccinated.

The announcement comes today with plenty of time before the Kraken’s home opener in order to ensure that fans who are not yet vaccinated can do so ahead of the first event in the arena. People are considered to be fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.

The Seattle Kraken’s first regular season home game is scheduled for Oct. 23 against division-rival Vancouver Canucks, and will be held at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. All three home preseason games for the Kraken in Spokane, Everett, and Kent will also require proof of vaccination.

Fans attending training camp at the Kraken Community Iceplex in Northgate beginning on Sept. 23 and at practices thereafter will be required to show proof of vaccination. Guests at the iceplex for other events or to shop at the team store must wear a mask, but do not have to show proof of vaccination.
